Great White Sharks Lecture- March 24

March 12, 2018 By Julie Early

The Dennis Conservation Trust is hosting a lecture by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy on March 24, 2018 at 10 AM. The event will take place at the Dennis Public Library at 5 Hall Street in Dennis Port.

Topics will include ongoing research projects funded by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, how that research is impacting conservation and public safety efforts, and up to date information on what that research can teach us about the sharks.

FREE for DCT Members

$5 for NON-MEMBERS

RSVP REQUIRED- Email Katherine at kgarofoli@dennisconservationtrust.org today.

About the Speaker

Marianne Long works as the Education Director for the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy and has been with the organization since 2013. She began her work as a volunteer, donating her time to create outreach programs for youth and families to become engaged in the ongoing research projects and recently joined the organization as a full time employee. Marianne attended Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, where she studied marine science and participated in a field course at the Bimini Biological Field Station where her passion for sharks began. Her experiences working with sharks in their natural habitat and seeing first hand how misunderstood these animals are, led her to work in a career where she could try to change public perception and replace fear with facts.

Land Steward Volunteer Open House – March 29

February 15, 2018 By Julie Early

Please join Dennis Conservation Trust and the Town of Dennis Department of Natural Resources for a land steward information session and get-together at the Dennis Public Library on March 29 from 6-7 PM!

What is a land steward?
Land stewards are volunteers who visit local conservation properties to monitor use, environmental changes, boundaries, and trail conditions. Land stewards also participate in volunteer work projects for natural resources and recreational improvements to conservation land. There is likely a conservation area near you that needs to be adopted for a little extra care and attention!

We will give a presentation and then you will have an opportunity to sign up to volunteer in an area of interest to you, as well as mingle with other current stewards.

Please RSVP to tylerm@dennisconservationtrust.org or (508) 694-7812.

We look forward to meeting you out on the land!
