DESCRIPTION:Interested in seeing how plants\, flowers and roots can make beautiful botanical marks on silk? Then come join natural dyer and local fiber guru Amy DuFault for some exploration! Each participant will get 2 silk scarves and all the color choices one could wish for. \nWe’ll start with a quick presentation on botanical bundle dyeing for some design inspiration then take a walk to look at all the color around us just on the grounds of the DCLT! After a little foraging\, we’ll head back to the barn to create our own fabulous works of art. \nThe process of bundle dyeing is simple: placing flowers\, leaves\, roots and more on silk and steaming the color in. Options include choosing a color palette\, covering the entire scarf with flowers\, being a minimalist or even embracing a rainbow of color. Nearly five years ago\, he started a weekly newsletter at mushroommonday.com that highlights different mushrooms he finds throughout his travels. DESCRIPTION:Dive into the fascinating world of fungi and learn some of the simplest mushroom cultivation techniques you can practice at home. Kids will learn how to cultivate edible oyster mushrooms with common household supplies and each kid will go home with their own oyster mushroom grow kit. If time allows\, we may also take a short trail walk to learn about mushrooms in the wild. Nearly five years ago\, he started a weekly newsletter at mushroommonday.com that highlights different mushrooms he finds throughout his travels. Additionally\, he has cultivated mushrooms both indoors and outdoors\, spoken at different mycological conferences\, and recently helped reestablish the Cape Cod Mycological Society.

DESCRIPTION:What a better way to celebrate the coming Groundhog Day than with a FREE performance of A Mid-Winter’s Night Dream Saturday\, January 31st\, 12-1:30pm at the Dennis Public Library? \nIn this wintry fantasy\, is it a groundhog or Jackson Gillman who leaves his den to go on a snowy walkabout\, tracks an otter\, goes airborne after an exhilarating slide\, plunges into icy water\, somehow survives hypothermia and dances under the Northern Lights with an angel? Jackson swears that much of these winter adventures are true life. This warm-hearted story will surely be a wild ride and intriguing fun trying to divine fact from fiction. \nThe fanciful escapade is generally performed for adults\, but families and school-age children can easily follow and enjoy the story and songs as well. \nThis performance is offered in partnership with the Dennis Conservation Land Trust (DCLT) and is partially funded by the Dennis Arts and Culture Council\, a local agency for the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency. \nMore info here. \n

DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin us on Saturday\, January 31st at 2:00pm at Plashes Conservation Area to walk with Diane Palomba! \nDiane Palomba is a Cape Codder who is always enthusiastic about spending time outdoors and looking for wildlife. She has a keen eye for critters we might not otherwise see and spends lots of time photographing them for her own Salty Air Photography. She can be found on Instagram at @saltyairphoto. \nDiane will lead us through the town’s Plashe Conservation Area as well as DCLT’s new acquisition in search for various signs of wildlife\, focusing on identifying tracks in the snow. It is a great opportunity to see what critters we share Dennis with\, and how we can identify them! \nParking at the end of Beach Plum Lane\, Dennis Port \nPSA; This walk will be through thick snow and possibly icy patches. Expect relatively difficult terrain\, so wear tall durable boots and snow pants\, or waders if you have them.
