SUMMARY:Organic Lawn Essentials: Saving Our Sandbar One Yard at a Time
DESCRIPTION:Join us August 27th\, 6pm-7:30pm at DCLT HQ for an organic gardening workshop with Jamie Dekes “Dekes” of Inspired Organics. \nDekes has been heavily involved in organic land and plant management since 2004 working at a Garden Center\, landscaping companies\, and running his own organic lawn business. After his puppy was poisoned running through a lawn that had been treated with a well known synthetic fertilizer\, he made it his responsibility to teach people about the dangers of traditional fertilizer structures and show them an easier more sustainable and affordable way. \nZekes is accredited by the North East Organic Farming Association (NOFA) and started his mission of Saving Our Sandbar One Yard at a Time with the mantra of “when you start dealing with the problems instead of the symptoms you can attain beautiful and long lasting results!” \nRSVP here.

SUMMARY:Storywalk: The Camping Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join us at our DCLT Headquarters’ Not Enough Acres Farm\, August 28th-September 25th for a StoryWalk® featuring The Camping Trip\, a children’s picture book written and illustrated by Jennifer K. Mann about a young city girl named Ernestine who goes on her very first camping adventure. \nIn this charming tale\, a young girl named Ernestine prepares for her very first camping trip with her aunt and cousin\, full of excitement and careful preparation. Despite her enthusiasm\, she soon discovers that the wilderness poses unexpected challenges\, from setting up the tent to navigating the lake\, as detailed by Candlewick Press and Goodreads. Author Jennifer K. Mann brings her own experiences to this illustrated story\, which explores themes of stepping out of one’s comfort zone and creating lasting memories. \n*This is a self-led walk through a trail on our property that meanders through a meadow and leads out to the marsh at Sesuit Creek. Suitable for ages 3-7 years of age (but we think anyone will like it and taking a walk on our property!) \nThis StoryWalk® is in collaboration with our friends at Cape Cod Children’s Place and The Dennis Libraries. \nAbout StoryWalk® \nStoryWalk®was created in 2007 by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier\, VT\, in collaboration with former KHL staff member Rachel Senechal\, and is a registered service mark of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® now exists across the U.S. and worldwide in 13 countries including Germany\, Canada\, England\, Bermuda\, Russia\, Malaysia\, Pakistan and South Korea!
