SUMMARY:Tick Talk & Walk at Not Enough Acres Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join us May 7th\, from 5:30pm-7pm for a Tick Talk & Walk at the Dennis Conservation Land Trust’s Not Enough Acres Farm. \nWe’ll be in safe hands with Escher Cattle\, an entomologist and extension educator for Barnstable County’s Cape Cod Cooperative Extension. Escher will take us tick sampling and flagging in a meadow on our property as an exercise. \nThe last thing you want to know is that we’ll have a good variety of ticks out and about as peak season is ramping up but good to know how we can spot and repel (as much as humanly possible) different ticks! \nEscher received his Bachelor of Science in Insect Ecology & Conservation from University of Delaware in 2018\, and his Master of Science in Entomology from North Carolina State University in 2025. He splits his time between training the Cape Cod Master Gardener program and tickborn disease prevention education\, providing expertise on all things creepy-crawly in his own playful-yet-informative way. \nRSVP here!

SUMMARY:Gardening Tips with Terra Firma Permagardens
DESCRIPTION:Back in October\, Peter Jensen of Terra Firma Permagardens taught us about building “biointensive double-dug garden beds.” This method may sound like a mouthful\, but it’s actually a really simple way to improve your soil and grow an abundance of healthy crops…even in a small backyard! \nOn Thursday\, May 7 at 3pm\, Peter will be back for a workshop about how you can plant “intensively” in these beds–that is maximize space to grow the most veggies! Join us at Not Enough Acres Farm for the fun. \nRSVP here.\nAbout Peter: \nPeter has been working for over 30 years in agroecological extension education and outreach support with a variety of international organizations in Africa\, Asia and The Americas. Peter developed the Terra Firma method as a low risk decision-making and action-taking process that can easily reach even the world’s most marginalized populations\, engaging them as ecosystem allies rather than enemies\, thus allowing ecosystem rehabilitation and family food security to become co-equal partners in community and ecosystem growth and empowerment. \n
