SUMMARY:Butterfly Walk and Talk with Gerry Beetham
DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 28th at 1pm at our headquarters to explore the pollinator meadow and the butterflies that use it\, led by Gerry Beetham! \nAfter a career in the business world\, Gerry moved to Cape Cod with his wife in 2012. They volunteered at Mass Audubon’s Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary\, tending to the butterfly garden\, as well as the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History’s Butterfly House. They learned about butterflies through this volunteer work\, and soon helped the Harwich Conservation Trust create pollinator gardens. \nToday\, they lead butterfly walks for the Harwich Conservation Trust every year\, focusing on identification\, life cycle\, and the plants that support them. \nCome learn about these beautiful creatures\, and how to attract them to your own garden! \nParking at 107 Sesuit Neck Rd\, East Dennis\, MA 02641 \nRSVP here.

SUMMARY:Friday Farm Strolls
DESCRIPTION:Since acquiring our headquarters at Not Enough Acres Farm in 2023\, the DCLT has had the pleasure of learning with\, and from\, our community about regenerative agriculture. With the help of our incredible volunteers\, our goal is to grow 3\,000 pounds of produce in 2026–90% of which will be donated to local food pantries. \n\nOur most recent acquisition\, the historic (and iconic) Sesuet Farm\, is just walking distance from our headquarters.\n\n\nJoin us for a series of walking tours Fridays along both properties to learn more about their history\, how we are using them today\, and what we envision for the future.

SUMMARY:Artist + Natural Plant Dyer Natalie Stopka Book Signing & Demo
DESCRIPTION:Join us on May 13th\, 2pm-4pm as we kick off our Color for Conservation series and step into a world where art\, science\, and nature converge at the Dennis Conservation Land Trust and celebrate the launch of the book From Plant to Pigment with author and textile artist Natalie Stopka. \n \nNatalie will kick off her talk with a demo making invasive buckthorn into a usable pigment + a book talk and signing that will make you rethink where color comes from while also shining a light on the vital role of water and plants in conservation. \nIn addition to the demo and talk\, Natalie will introduce us to her traveling archive of over 200 hand-crafted plant pigments from sources you won’t believe! Each hue tells a story of transformation: from wild-foraged plants to radiant inks\, paints\, and pastels\, and reveals the delicate balance between natural materials and the environments they come from. \nRSVP here!\n \nThis event places a special focus on water quality and ecological stewardship.\nLearn how something as seemingly simple as water is essential not only for vibrant\, lasting pigments\, but for the health of the ecosystems that produce them. \nYou’ll also discover how plants themselves play a powerful role in conservation. From filtering and protecting waterways to serving as renewable sources of color\, botanical materials offer a path toward more sustainable creative practices. Through stories of traditional pigment-making and modern experimentation\, Natalie connects the dots between art\, environmental awareness\, and responsible sourcing. \n \nNatalie will be selling and signing copies of From Plant to Pigment at the event! \nRSVP here!

SUMMARY:Tick Talk & Walk at Not Enough Acres Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join us May 7th\, from 5:30pm-7pm for a Tick Talk & Walk at the Dennis Conservation Land Trust’s Not Enough Acres Farm. \nWe’ll be in safe hands with Escher Cattle\, an entomologist and extension educator for Barnstable County’s Cape Cod Cooperative Extension. Escher will take us tick sampling and flagging in a meadow on our property as an exercise. \nThe last thing you want to know is that we’ll have a good variety of ticks out and about as peak season is ramping up but good to know how we can spot and repel (as much as humanly possible) different ticks! \nEscher received his Bachelor of Science in Insect Ecology & Conservation from University of Delaware in 2018\, and his Master of Science in Entomology from North Carolina State University in 2025. He splits his time between training the Cape Cod Master Gardener program and tickborn disease prevention education\, providing expertise on all things creepy-crawly in his own playful-yet-informative way. \nRSVP here!

SUMMARY:Gardening Tips with Terra Firma Permagardens
DESCRIPTION:Back in October\, Peter Jensen of Terra Firma Permagardens taught us about building “biointensive double-dug garden beds.” This method may sound like a mouthful\, but it’s actually a really simple way to improve your soil and grow an abundance of healthy crops…even in a small backyard! \nOn Thursday\, May 7 at 3pm\, Peter will be back for a workshop about how you can plant “intensively” in these beds–that is maximize space to grow the most veggies! Join us at Not Enough Acres Farm for the fun. \nRSVP here.\nAbout Peter: \nPeter has been working for over 30 years in agroecological extension education and outreach support with a variety of international organizations in Africa\, Asia and The Americas. Peter developed the Terra Firma method as a low risk decision-making and action-taking process that can easily reach even the world’s most marginalized populations\, engaging them as ecosystem allies rather than enemies\, thus allowing ecosystem rehabilitation and family food security to become co-equal partners in community and ecosystem growth and empowerment. \n
