As part of Cape Cod Clean Water Week, Robert B. Our Co., Inc. is collaborating with DCLT on September 17th from 3pm-4:30pm, and hosting a tour showcasing its custom topsoil and premium compost materials made from ingredients like local biochar, Chatham kelp, and innovative ingredients such as green crab compost.
Biochar is a carbon-rich material that can play an important role in protecting water quality. Its highly porous structure can help retain nutrients and certain pollutants in soil, reducing the amount that can move into groundwater and nearby ponds, streams, and coastal waters. By helping soils hold onto nutrients and water, biochar can support healthier soils while reducing nutrient runoff.
As part of the tour, attendees will learn how biochar can be incorporated into compost and soil mixes as one of many tools for building healthier soils and supporting Cape Cod’s clean water goals.
The tour will also give attendees an inside look at PlantGro, an eco-conscious soil solution made with locally sourced materials. PlantGro’s premium mix features biochar, Chatham kelp, and innovative ingredients such as green crab compost, demonstrating how sustainable materials can help improve soil health, support long-term plant growth, and contribute to healthier landscapes.
